POSTER TRIPTYCH
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For the Poster Triptych assignment, I was tasked to pick a social topic or theory to create three cohesive artworks that could be put together side by side.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Brand Strategies
For my Poster Triptych, my goal was to convey the concept of communication and how communication styles have evolved throughout human evolution. My overall concept led me to the Constructivist Theory. This theory is defined by a person's understanding and perspective on the world created by his or her accumulation of their own life experiences. After cultivating my topic, I decided to create my work based on the constructivist art style and utilize Russian Constructivism as inspiration for my work.
Target Audience
Target Audience - My target audience for this work is tailored towards creatives like myself who understand the importance of art as a communication style.
PROCESS WORK
Sketches
Typography
I chose the font Rodchenko bold to depict and bold statement that would draw my viewers' eye in. I decided to put a harsh black stroke around my letters to resemble the Russian Constructivist art style.
Color Palette
I wanted my Poster Triptych to give a feel and feel of Russian Constructivism, so I stuck to a very simple yet bold color palette. The deep red, black, and white colors were repeatedly used during that period to depict a strong presence.
DIGITAL DRAFTS
Iteration 1
For my first Poster Triptych concept, I wanted to depict the evolution of communication. The first work is to resemble how prehistoric humans communicated through cave art. The second work is to depict a modern communication style utilizing telephone technology. The third work is a bit of a stretch, but my idea was to create a concept of telepathy as dolphins can communicate to one another through vibrations only.
Iteration 2
My second concept is similar to my first, but I depict the relationship between the transformation of communication in a different way.
Iteration 3
The third concept was built upon this idea of a dystopian world and that there is always someone at the top controlling humanity.
FINAL DESIGN
Design Decisions
My final iteration was cultivated through a belief that even though the world might be turning into a dystopia, we can still rise above all the chaos through creation and inspiration. Humanity must look within so that we all come to an understanding of peace and love. It is not through war and isolation that humanity will elevate, but the firm belief that everyone must rise.
